Bikur Cholim House Playroom

As featured in Kol HaBirah, on July 8 2018, the playroom at the Bernard Kreeger Bikur Cholim House in Bethesda, Maryland was dedicated in Ilan’s memory.

Ilan’s sister, Tali Rasooly, said that while the family has dedicated several spaces over the years in honor of her brother, this one is perhaps the most special.

“This dedication, in some ways, was the ultimate tribute to my brother’s memory,” she said. “He was a hospitality major at Cornell Hotel, and the mission of sheltering patient families with love and support is one that he emulated throughout his life.”

Toddler Playground

Improving the safety of the Kemp Mill Synagogue playground

The KMS playground is a fun place for KMS’s many, many children and their families. Our first priority was to make it safe again by regrading the surface. Before the regrading, there was a drop-off of nearly two feet from the bottom of the 3 slides to the ground and the mulch cushioning was mostly gone.

With money from the fund, we added more than 80 cubic yards of topsoil to elevate the surface by more than a foot to a level which is safe for the children. The wooden frame was that holds the surface in place was repaired and elevated. On top of the new surface, playground-grade mulch will be added. The work is expected to be completed by Ilan’s birthday on November 9.
